Russian Helicopters Holding has supplied four Mil Mi-171Sh military transport helicopters to the Angolan Defense Ministry under a contract with Rosoboronexport, the holding press service reports.
"Another delivery of the vehicles manufactured by the Ulan Ude Aircraft Plant has been made in addition to the four helicopters delivered in 2015," says the report seen by Interfax-AVN on Thursday.
The helicopters were built and tested by the Ulan Ude Aircraft Plant. They were transported to Angola on board Antonov An-124 Ruslan planes, re-assembled, tested and accepted by the Angolan Defense Ministry.
"The Mil Mi-171Sh helicopters have been tested in all weather, in various geographic zones and have proven to be reliable and undemanding vehicles capable of achieving any tasks. They smoothly operate under the most severe conditions," the report said.
The helicopters supplied to Angola have modern avionics, which optimizes the flight profile and improves security levels by use of a satellite navigation system and a weather radar system with a multi-function display. Additional integral fuel tanks increase the flight range to 1,065 kilometers.
In addition, the helicopters have a rescue hoist capable of lifting 300 kilograms, collapsible seats, stretchers for 12 persons and a sling for carrying up to four tonnes of oversized cargo.
The helicopter is customized for pilots using night-vision goggles.
"Representatives of the Angolan Defense Ministry praised the Mil Mi-171Sh helicopters and said that they were ready for the Angolan climate," the report said.
